The current wave of terrorism in big cities leave us assume that the insurgent elements pushed out of the north western mountains are now active in the plains and cities. Some of such elements who were pushed out of the highlands by military action are now a day’s refuge mostly in big cities like Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi.
No doubt it’s terrible and extremely inhuman to kill civilians without any discrimination however; seems to be the climax of this vested interest driven brutality. Plains and cities are difficult to vacate and clean out of such elements on immediate basis and that’s why the miscreants find it easy to plan and attach such sabotage. Effects of these deadly events are fading out for two reasons; one is that such elements have almost lost their sympathies and allies throughout the county; secondly people in Pakistan have accepted it as a fact and a critical but necessary stage for this country to go through. And this makes me hopeful for a good future.
I would repeat my stand on it as the early its came the good it is! People would have not seen/observe true face of extremist elopements and subsequent miseries now; it might have grown up a size that could have never been controlled by our future generation. And this is how I see it as an opportunity. We as a nation are getting a strength to be able to prevent, discourage and disfranchise extremist in our society, absorb the extra ordinary physical and emotional shocks, know our friends and enemies well, develop an infrastructure to fight such insurgency, develop gadgets and equipments and last but not the least become responsible citizen, true Pakistanis.
There are number of other reason to believe that this country is coming down of the evil climax towards a new beginning. Our media has got an enormous strength of freedom and education citizen to an extent this nation has never thought of. Real time information sharing by media is resulting into making our politicians and public servant more responsible and pubic more educated.
Take an example of the freedom and sense of responsibility that our Judiciary is exhibiting now! It’s discussing corruption cases against the sitting controversial government and the President! How amazing and hope giving it is!
Look at the Pakistan Army! Are they not doing smart? Getting number of martyrs’ and atrocities on daily basis still focused, committed to their business and remaining on the front; not stabilizing the democratic government nor taking any stake in judicial activism. Is it not positive and hope full?
My hope about the future of this country get strength when I see boys and girls getting co-education in the remotest and far flung University, the University of Malakand located in Lower Dir district, at the brink (start of district SWAT)-the epicenter of militancy and extremism; where even schooling for girls was banned by militants in the very recent past (2008).
I am optimist as I see hug number of youngster in my area working for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which were considered as an agent of the west (America mostly) and the people associated as stigma in the past.
